The Bitaxe Gamma Hex is an open-source, compact ASIC miner designed for the SHA-256 algorithm. It is built for solo Bitcoin (BTC) mining and can also mine other SHA-256 coins like Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin SV (BSV). It features six BM1370 ASIC chips—the same chips used in the professional Antminer S21 Pro—delivering high hashrate in a small desktop form factor.
Setup is straightforward and typically takes under 10 minutes:

Connect power: Use a 12V DC power supply with an XT30 connector, rated for at least 10A.

Join the setup network: On your phone or computer, look for a Wi-Fi network named “Bitaxe_XXXX” (where XXXX is a unique code).

Access the interface: Open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.

Configure Wi-Fi: Enter your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi SSID and password.

Find the IP address: After the miner reboots, find its new IP address on your router.

Configure mining: Access the miner’s IP in your browser, and enter your Bitcoin wallet address and a solo mining pool such as public-pool.io or solo.ckpool.org.
The Gamma Hex uses an XT30 connector and requires a 12V DC power supply rated for at least 10A. Do not use USB-C for power—it is for firmware flashing only and can damage the board.
The Bitaxe Gamma Hex supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. It cannot connect to 5 GHz networks. If your router uses a single combined SSID, you may need to create a separate 2.4 GHz network or use a phone hotspot for initial setup.
The Gamma Hex operates with an active cooling fan. While exact noise levels for the Hex variant are not specified, the single-chip Bitaxe Gamma runs at approximately 38 dB. The Hex, with six chips, will be louder but remains suitable for home environments, quieter than industrial miners.
